Carnival de Cuba
So Saturday saw the return of a favourite on the Summer Salsa calendar, the Carnival de Cuba.
Summer in London means festival time with a number of festivals ranging from music, to dance, to theatre. And for salsa it means the Carnival de Cuba and in August, the Colombian Fesitval (Carnival del Pueblo).
So a group of us from Havana headed down again for this year’s carnival and had a great time. They’d moved to the southern end of Southwark park, so this year had a lot more space for the stage and the cuban/carribean stalls with everything from food, to crafts, to a drum workshop and an area for hula hoops!
So we had a great time in the London sunshine (thankfully no rain this year) sitting listening to the music, dancing and watching the shows. As well as sampling the cuban food (hot hot hot!)
After heading home to recoup, a few of us headed back out to the official carnival after party at Club Colosseum in Vauxhall for a 5 room, 6 hour salsa spectacular.
I stayed til 3am when I ran out of steam and headed home to bed, but had a great night and a great day overall!
